Mission Statement

The objective for which this association was formed was to promote track and field and cross country competition among the schools of Essex County, and to protect the mutual interests of the schools engaged therein.

I regret to have to inform our membership of the passing of long-time coaching great

Bill Persichetty

Bill was the head coach at Seton Hall Prep where many athletes, as well as Seton Hall teams, caputured

numerous titles at all levels of our sport while under his tutelage.

Bill was also an active member of our association during his tenure at Seton Hall Prep and

we selected him coach of the year for Cross Country in 1994.

Always an advocate of our sport in brought much to our association and he will be missed!

A wake for coach Persichetty is scheduled fo Monday, July 7th from 4pm to 8pm at Dangler Funeral Home,

309 Springfield Ave. Summit. A mass will be held on Tuesday, July 8th, at 9:30 a.m. at St Teresa of Avila, 306 Morris Ave., Summit.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a donation to Seton Hall Prep, West Orange in memory of Coach Persichetty.

On a Happier Note!

Congratulations to 1995 Columbia High School graduate - Hazel Clark (our county 800 meter record holder)

on not only making her third US Olympic Team, but in qualifying first, by wining the trials with a time of 1:59.82

We would like to wish her - All the best in Bejing!

founders, coach Len Klepack, during his tenure at Columbia HS)

A Summer Cross Country Clinic anyone?

Coach Kaye of Millburn, along with the Sneaker Factory, in Millburn is again sponsoring a week long running clinic.

The dates are August 11th through the 15th.
